Yes - The Firewalk Experience carries up to £5m public liability cover (with policies up to £10m available), provides a written risk assessment for every event, and has a qualified first aider on site. Insurers rate firewalking as safer than most sports.

Do walkers need to sign a waiver?
Yes - an electronic waiver is signed during the pre-walk seminar so every walker is fully informed. The event is fully insured up to £10m, and insurers rate firewalking safer than five-a-side football.

Who is in the fire crew and what do they do?
Two teams run every event: an in-room training crew (seminar lead plus tech) and an outdoor fire crew (firetenders) who load, build, light, tend, walk-test and clear the fire - all trained professionals.

What is the difference between hot embers and hot coals?
Genuine firewalks use wood embers from two-year-aged non-sappy softwood. Walking on actual hot coals (mineral coal) is never safe - if a provider says "hot coals", check exactly what they mean before signing anything.

Can you run a firewalk on any surface - car park, garden or playing field?
Yes - heat-retardant boards and multiple layers of turf protect almost any surface, and a site survey is done in advance. We've delivered events at Ealing Studios, on company campuses, and at off-site venues across the UK.

What is the best time of day to run a corporate firewalk?
Light the fire about 30 minutes before sunset and walk roughly 90 minutes later, once it has gone dark. Perfect for an end-of-day team event or conference closing session.

Should you run your firewalk at night or in the day?
Night, almost always. The glowing red embers create the drama, atmosphere and photo opportunities that daytime firewalks (which look like grey ash) simply cannot match - and the imagery is significantly stronger for internal comms and recruitment content.

Do we need an alcohol licence?
If you want to serve drinks at the event and your venue is not already licensed, apply to your council for a Temporary Event Notice (TENS). Walkers themselves never drink alcohol before walking - this is firm.

Do walkers need training before a firewalk?
Yes - training is required. For corporate events, the standard format is a 90-minute pre-walk seminar built bespoke for your team's goals. Tenzing did it as a monthly team social; Talent Campus runs it as the centrepiece of a ten-day leadership programme.

How do you prep walkers and your event for the day?
We handle the venue, wood, build, fire crew and clean-up. You handle the diary invite. Tell your team to avoid heavy meals beforehand, bring snacks and water, and not to wear their best clothes - they will smell of smoke afterwards.

How hot is a firewalk?
Around 700°C (1,300°F) on the embers - measured by laser thermometer at recent events including a Skylarks firewalk in West London where the lane registered 1,276°F.

Is it really hot enough to cook on?
Yes - the fire burns between 500°C and 1,000°C, the embers reach around 400°C with hotspots far higher. It will melt lead, cook a steak, and yes, fry bacon and eggs.

How long is a firewalk?
The first walk is typically 3-4 metres, and walkers can go again on a longer, hotter lane each round - our current record is 12 metres. Most corporate events see walkers cross multiple times.

Will anyone burn their feet?
Almost never. The worst injury we have ever seen is a tiny "firekiss" blister - usually no bigger than a 5p coin and gone within 24 hours. Aloe vera is provided right after the walk.

What kind of photos do you need for internal comms and recruitment?
Two types: generic action and feet-only shots before the event (for invites and teasers), then real walker and group shots afterwards. The story is in the faces - hire a professional photographer if at all possible.

Hire a professional. Low light and fast action are technically demanding, and the resulting assets will outperform anything you'd get from phone snaps for both internal channels and brand content.

Budget at least £1,000 for a professional. Shoot slow motion at 100fps, plan lighting carefully for low-light, and edit fast for social and intranet. The video becomes a lifelong record and a recruitment magnet.
