PR is the lifeblood of a charity firewalk.
That does begin with social media of course, but it should extend into traditional media too. Newspapers and radio at a local level are both excellent ways to get your message out to people who may be inclined to join your firewalk or just contribute.
I am running Firewalk next week for Skylarks, and Dee, Head of Fundraising at Skylarks, just got herself of the radio.
Have a listen and you can hear just how easy it is, and how to get your message out too. Dee smashes it like a total pro, like she clearly is!
What you should know when YOU do this too…
- You will get about ten minutes or airtime – ask in advance so you know.
- The host WILL guide you and ask you the great questions.
- But remember to say the URL or even (in this instance) ‘Google, Firewalk Skylarks’. Make it easy to remember how to find you online.
- Explain WHY you are doing it. Be passionate.
- If you can, try to tell a story with a point, one that emphasises the importance of your charity.
- HAVE FUN! It is super easy.
- Take photos.
- Have a friend record it so you can reshare on socials.
That’s it. Good luck and I will see you on the firewalk!
